Nissan Recalls
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) has recalled certain model year 2014 Nissan LEAF vehicles that were manufactured within these dates: April 15, 2014 through April 24, 2014. The problem with the vehicle associated with this recall is the motor control circuit board and the inverter may fail that could cause the vehicle to suddenly shut down. Because of the recall and its apparent defect, Nissan has reported that unexpectedly, the vehicle could shut down greatly increasing the risk of a crash.
Nissan has begun to notify owners and dealers of this problem with the inverter and will replace the inverter free of charge for Illinois Nissan owners and lessees. The recall is nationwide and repair is likewise applicable to any deal in the United States and Canada.
The recall was expected to begin on July 7, 2014.
In addition, the 2014 Nissan LEAF was manufactured with missing welds which could affect the vehicle’s ability to withstand a crash. With the stability of the vehicle in question, there is increased risk of severe injury or death to Nissan occupants.
This is a different issue and the announcement of the recall regarding the vehicle’s integrity was made on April 16, 2014. The recall was started in mid-June 2014.
Nissan announced recalls for its models, LEAF, Altima, Pathfinder and Sentra for the model year 2013 whose defect is if an adult occupant is in the passenger seat, the seat sensor won’t recognize the passenger’s presence and the airbag would be deactivated and not deploy in a crash. That recall announcement was made March 25, 2014. The recall began on April 14, 2014. Owners of these vehicles should contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
