This applied to one of three residents reviewed for incontinence care in a sample of seven.
On April 6, 2016, a nursing home administrator or nurse stated that the call lights are not being answered. The residents are not being repositioned every two hours and soiled dressings are not being changed. The residents have multiple layers of padding because there is not enough time to revise routine incontinence care shift during the night shift. This individual nursing home employee sated that one resident was observed with two incontinence briefs, a bath blanket, a draw sheet, three incontinence pads and flat sheet underneath her all at once.
On April 6, 2016, a resident was observed laying on a low air loss mattress with a heavily soiled incontinence brief and a slightly dampened bath blanket with a brown ring. The resident had one incontinent brief, one draw sheet, one bath blanket and three incontinent pads. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) was present with the surveyor at the time of this observation. The CNA stated that the resident had multiple pads because she is a heavy wetter.
