The village of LaGrange, Illinois is a western suburb of Chicago that lies within Cook County. Nearby villages are Western Springs, Lyons, Riverside and Brookfield. LaGrange is about 13 miles from Chicago’s Loop.

LaGrange was first settled in the 1830s when Chicago residents -- already crowded by the rapid increase in population -- moved out to the west.
Two major railroad lines run through the center of LaGrange. These include the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and the Indiana Harbor Belt Lines.
Two major highways cross through LaGrange. The village’s main street, LaGrange Road (US Routes 12/20/45) runs north-south. Ogden Avenue (US Route 34) runs east-west. Additionally, US 34 intersects with the Tri–State Tollway (I–294) west of the village’s boundary line. Interstate 55 intersects the south end of the village.
The BNSF Railway has daily commuter service into Chicago and Aurora. With O’Hare and Midway Airports within commuter range, LaGrange is convenient to both major airports.
A few of the homes in the village were designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. LaGrange’s public elementary schools include four schools in LaGrange Elementary School District 102. Many high school students in LaGrange attend Lyons Township High School, which was founded in 1888 and now has two campuses.
LaGrange Memorial Hospital, operated by Adventist Health System, is a level 2 trauma center with 270 inpatient beds.
