The pressure ulcer log for the period February 12, 2016 through February 18, 2016 indicated that the resident’s left calf ulcer developed on January 26, 2016. On February 18, 2016, an attending physician stated that the resident’s wounds are primarily related to vascular issues and the family has decided not to have surgical intervention but instead opted for hospice care. A Doppler study completed on September 12, 2015 showed absent flow noted on the posterior tibial artery bilaterally may represent an occlusion or blockage. Absent pressure demonstrated at the ankles bilaterally indicate severe arterial insufficiency. This is a dangerous condition that the doctor indicated would make the presentation of wounds unavoidable.
